The Iona Group provides a social organization of Senior members (50 and over) of St. Columba. Activities include a monthly luncheon combined with other activities, trips to places of interest, and participation in parish activities.

The group's  name, Iona, recalls the Scottish Island where our patron saint,  St Columba and his followers built a small monastery from wood, wattle and daub.  Later, the timber was replaced with stone and in around 1200, the Columban Monastery was transformed into a Benedictine Abbey. One of Scotland's most historic and venerated sites, lona Abbey is a celebrated Christian centre and the burial place of early Scottish kings.

Since St. Columba established his church on Iona, it has been a place of pilgrimage for those seeking to be enlightened, absolved and healed.

Visit the Iona website to learn more about our St. Columba and the historic Isle of Iona.
