Ever wonder what our parish IONA Club is? Well, it’s a social group for folks 50 and over. It’s named after IONA, a small island off the coast of Scotland that St. Columba Christianized in the sixth century. He built an abbey there & a rebuilt abbey stands there today run by the Iona community - a worldwide group of clergy & laity working for social justice. Our parish IONA group meets on the third Tuesday of the month at Wiregrass Rehab for a luncheon and an afternoon of social activities - speakers, games and socializing. So, next time you see the IONA Club in our bulletin, we invite you to join us for a pleasant afternoon with a group of enjoyable people.

Our IONA Club Thanksgiving luncheon was Tuesday, Nov.13th.  Click here for pictures.

Our IONA Club Christmas party and luncheon will be on Tuesday, December 18th at Wiregrass Rehab. The Board meets at 10:45am. If you are new and plan to attend or if you are a regular member and need to cancel, please call Jean Fears (793-0935) Jean Sands (792-8258) or Penny Ballantine (792-3687) by Monday, December 17th. The cost for lunch is $8.50 per person. We’ll have Christmas carols, a visit from Santa and our gift exchange re wrapping for a woman and green for a man. We’ll play bingo and bridge after lunch. Bring a wrapped gift if you’re playing bingo. Join us for an afternoon of fun, fellowship and good food. We especially welcome newcomers to our group.

The IONA Group provides a social organization of Senior members (50 and over) of St. Columba. Activities include a monthly luncheon combined with other activities, trips to places of interest, and participation in parish activities.

The IONA Club Officers for the year 2007-2008: President: Vito Veneziano, Vice President: Betsy Saliba, Treasurer: Bernadette Berry, & Secretary: Pat Hewitt.

Please join us for our regular luncheon meetings.
