Building on the Rock of Faith

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of faith and your call through Baptism to be your people, The Church.

May all of us respond to that call with sincere love, sacrifice and dedication. In building the new church, let your Holy Spirit guide our hearts and hands, our minds and tongues so that we may grow in unity as your people, free of all discord.

As we progress from one phase of building to another, may we give You, Heavenly Father, honor, glory, and praise through Jesus Christ, your son, in the power of the Holy Spirit, now and forever.   AMEN

We continue to pray The Rock of Faith Prayer each day at Mass & I ask you to include the project in your prayers also.

On January 21, 2007 parishioners were invited to place a rock under the area of the Sanctuary where the Altar will be in the new Church. Parishioners brought small rocks to Mass that weekend & after Mass we put them in place. When all the rocks were in place after each Mass we concluded with a short prayer service. Parishioners were given a card to put their name and a short note stating any significant information on the rock. Such as, where it came from or who gave it to them.

THE NEW PARKING LOT

The progress on the new Church is visible in the near completion of the brick on the outside & the continuing work on the inside. The sheetrock is being put on the ceiling & walls. Soon the scaffolding will be removed. We have prayed for rain & thanks be to God for it. But it has held up the completion of the parking lot. I know it has been difficult for many of you. Thank you for your patience throughout the whole project. We will all be happy when the mud and dust is gone and we have convenient parking for our automobiles.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU

Your response has been tremendous to the invitation to the “Memorial Phase” of the new Church. The generosity of parishioners towards the whole construction project has been humbling, encouraging and a great expression of your Catholic faith. May God bless your generous spirit in abundance.

We will compile a book that will contain all the names of people who have pledged to the Capital Campaign and the “memorials” as well as those who contributed their time & talent through the Building Committee, Decorating Committee etc. etc. So many have been so supportive and we want all to be remembered with gratitude in an appropriate manner. My deep thanks to you all.

"One of the most significant and formative experiences in the life of a parish community is the process of building or renovating a church. As part of that process, parish members are called upon to study the Church's teaching and liturgical theology and to reflect upon their personal pieties, their individual tastes, and the parish history. By bringing together these personal and ecclesial elements in faith and in charity, parishioners help to build a new structure and to renew their parish community."
