Faith Festivals

The Faith Festivals are apart of the Faith Formation of Adults.  At these sessions, adults will participate in presentations, discussions and activities to further their understanding of Catholic teaching and the development of a healthy spirituality.  See pages 4-5 in this Faith Formation Handbook for more information about  and the schedule for the Faith Festivals.

Scripture Study

Adults are invited to participate in an 8-week Scripture Study course to deepen their understanding of the Word of God.  Scripture Study will be offered beginning in September and October.  Lands of the Bible will begin on Thursday, September 16th, at 7PM.  The Book of Wisdom will be offered on Wednesday, October 6th, at 10AM.

A second series will begin in January.  More information will be forthcoming in the Bulletin regarding registration for the program.

Parish Mission

The Parish Mission is an opportunity to be enriched in our faith and grow spiritually.  While we are still finalizing the topic and presenter(s) for the Mission, mark your calendars for March 20th-23rd at 7:00PM for this wonderful opportunity to be strengthened during the Lenten Season.

Special Presentations

We have the privilege at St. Columba of occasionally having Guest Presenters speak on their areas of expertise.  In addition, staff and parishioners may present one-time courses to enhance our understanding of Liturgical or Theological events.  These opportunities are open to all parishioners, especially teens and adults.  The Bulletin and Monthly Calendar/Newsletter will carry specific information regarding these presentations as they become available.

RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process through which non-Catholic individuals learn about the Catholic faith and pray about becoming Catholic. Those who complete the program receive the Sacraments of Initiation and are received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil.   RCIA is open to individuals who are either unbaptized or baptized into another Christian faith tradition.  The process begins with an Inquiry period on Tuesday evenings at 7:00PM during the month of August.  Interested individuals should contact Deacon Rick Risher at the Parish Office (793-5802).

Catholics Come Home

The Catholics Come Home Program is a program for inactive Catholics.  It is a six-week series of meetings in which questions about the Catholic Faith and the process of returning to the Church are discussed.  Facilitators in the group listen to the participants and address their specific concerns.  This program will be held on Thursday evenings at 7:00PM beginning on September 23rd.  If you know someone who has left the Catholic Church, please invite them to join this program.  Interested individuals should contact Wayne VanLandingham at 793-9143.
