LENTEN DESERT DAYS

Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat is offering a Lenten Desert experience on March 10, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (ET). As we prepare for Easter, we invite you to “come apart and pray” during these Wednesdays of Lent, in the spirit of Jesus who, along with his availability to all who sought him, would “go away to deserted places where he prayed.” (Lk 5:16) Aside from an opening Orientation to the day and the celebration of the Eucharist, the day will be spent in silent prayer and inner attentiveness to the Lord. Members of  the Retreat Team will be available, should anyone wish to meet with them individually. A simple meal of soup and bread will be provided. Fee: “Free Will Offering.” (Donations to be given to Catholic Relief Services “Rice Bowl”). To register call,  334-855-4474.

HOLY WEEK RETREAT

Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat is offering a “Holy Week Retreat” on March 29-April 4, 2010. This year’s Holy Week Retreat will simply be a time for joining our retreat house community in a silent retreat with the option for spiritual direction and prayer times in common. There will be daily Eucharist at the retreat house on Tuesday and Wednesday, and we will join our parish (St. Joseph's) for the liturgies of the Triduum (Thursday-Sunday). We welcome you to join us for all or a part of this week. The retreat begins with supper at 6 p.m. (ET) on Monday, March 29, and concludes Easter Sunday following brunch. For registration information, call 334-855-4474.

DANCE OF THE CELTIC SPIRIT

Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat is offering a retreat on March 12-14, 2010, entitled “Dance of the Celtic Spirit.” Come and celebrate the coming feast of St. Patrick with us as Carmel Boyle again invites us to pray with Celtic themes through song, reflection, and gentle movement. Led by the spirit of song, you will encounter the spirituality of the ancient Celts who were ever conscious of the immanence of God. The Dance of the Celtic Spirit will be in the company of the Trinity, the angels and the saints. Partners in the dance will include St. Brigid and St. Patrick, but the intimate companion - the music - is Christ. The presenter is Carmel Boyle, M.Min. Carmel Boyle is a singer and songwriter who gives retreats, workshops, and concerts throughout Ireland and the United States. The retreat begins with registration at 7 p.m. (ET), Friday, March 12, 2010,  and concludes with dinner at noon on Sunday. For information call 334-855-4474.

FAITH FESTIVALS TO BE HELD MARCH 7 AND 10

Our next Faith Festivals will be on Sunday, March 7, 11:30 a.m.-2:15 p.m., and Wednesday, March 10,  5:30-8:15 p.m. Our topic for this session is “Following Jesus” Example. We will examine the Scriptural foundations and petitions of the Lord’s Prayer. We will begin with a meal of pork loin, rice, mixed vegetables and fruit cocktail. For further information, contact Rosina Hendrickson in the Faith Formation Office, 792-3065.

STUDY THE BIBLE AT YOUR CONVENIENCE

Do you ever wish you could study the Bible, but can’t because of your schedule? Several of us went to a diocesan workshop presented by Stephen Binz, A Catholic biblical scholar. He is the author of the Threshold Bible Study, presently there are a dozen books to choose from. Check it out at www.thresholdbiblestudy.com. Brochures are available in the Narthex. You might do a bible study with a friend, a family member, or a small group and you set the schedule! You could do this study in person, e-mail, or social network of your choice. Give it some thought and talk to someone who would like to do this with you. This series has been recommended by many biblical teachers and the United States Catholic Bishops.
