St. Columba Church parishioners are invited to take part in many events offered by St. Columba and Catholic agencies throughout our area.
GATHERING FOR MEN The Men of St. Columba invites all our men to a cookout, July 30, 2010. We will begin at 5:30 p.m. and eat supper together. If you would like a particular beverage you must supply your own. Cokes and tea will be provided. The gathering will be at Matt Howell’s house, please call Doug Martin, 792-3065 for directions or if you have any questions. See you there.
ALTAR SERVER APPRECIATION DAY Attention all Altar Servers. We appreciate you and want you to join us for a morning of fun and good food. The date is July 31, we will start with 9 a.m. Mass and conclude at 1 p.m. We will have a giant water slide for your enjoyment, hot dogs and hamburgers will be served. The food will be prepared by the Knights of Columbus, it will be held behind O’Hara Hall. Please join us for a great time and bring your bathing suite, towel and your appetite.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS The
Knights of Columbus will have their Installation of Officers and a Pot Luck
Supper in O’Hara Hall at 6 p.m., Saturday, July 31. All are invited, please
bring a covered dish of your choice. Meat, rolls, tea and coffee will be
provided by the Knights. Dress will be tuxedos for 4th Degree Knights (if
available) and coat and tie for other Knights. Please no children. Please RSVP

Faith
Formation Registration packets have been mailed to all registered households.
Faith Formation is for all parishioners. We will have another sign up after all
Masses on the weekend of August 1st. The entire parish will gather for four
Faith Festivals throughout the year. Preschool students will meet on Sunday
mornings and High School Students will meet on Sunday evenings for Life Teen.
Students in 1st-8th grade will have classes on Wednesday evenings. Please
complete your registration forms and return them to the Office of Faith
Formation as soon as possible. Additional registration forms are available in
the Parish Office. Contact the Office of Faith Formation, 792-3065 if you have
any questions.
24—HOUR MARRIED COUPLE RETREAT Reconnect with the Lord and your spouse! Join us for a unique retreat for married couples at the Visitation Monastery in Mobile. The Retreat begins Friday, July 30, 5 p.m. and concludes Saturday mid-afternoon. The Retreat Master is Fr. Dan Good, assisted by other married couples. NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING COURSE There
will be a Natural Family Planning course sponsored by the Couple to Couple
League offered at Fort Rucker’s Spiritual Life Center. It will meet on August
15, September 19, and October 17, 2010 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. On-line
registration is required. In order to register, go to www.ccli.org and click the

fulfills part of the marriage preparation requirements for the Archdiocese of

HOME SCHOOLERS is a recently formed group of all local area Catholic home
schoolers. We meet at 10 a.m. the third Friday of each month in the Boucher
Activity Center of St. Columba Church for play, prayer, a lesson/craft, and

STUDY THE BIBLE AT YOUR CONVENIENCE Do
you ever wish you could study the Bible, but can’t because of your schedule?
Several of us went to a diocesan workshop presented by Stephen Binz, A Catholic
biblical scholar. He is the author of the Threshold Bible Study, presently there
are a dozen books to choose from. Check it out at www.thresholdbiblestudy.com.
Brochures are available in the Narthex. You might do a bible study with a
friend, a family member, or a small group and you set the schedule! You could do
this study in person, e-mail, or social network of your choice. Give it some
thought and talk to someone who would like to do this with you. This series has
been recommended by many biblical teachers and the United States Catholic
Bishops.
BLESSED TRINITY SHRINE RETREAT BTSR is offering the Annual Bible Institute entitled “Why are there no Prophets?” on August 20-22, 2010. We will look at the Prophets of Israel, their ministry and the conditions that brought about the need for prophecy. What did this mean for the People of God in ancient times, and what does this mean for us, God’s People of 2010? The presenter if Fr. Gary Banks, S.T. WOMEN OF ST. COLUMBA ACCW Annual Convention As many of you know the Dothan Deanery will host the 2010 ACCW Annual Convention in October and we will discuss plans at this meeting for the convention October 24-26 to be held at Lakepoint Lodge and Convention Center in Eufaula. We look forward to representation from St. Columba for a wonderful convention.
