Welcome to St. Columba Catholic Church!
From the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday the church celebrates the Easter Triduum. Deriving its name from the Latin for “three days,” during this period of time we celebrate the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus. During these days we perform actions which are unique in church- we wash feet, we kiss wood, kindle fires, and turn lights off and on. We listen to the stories of our salvation and with hearts converted by our Lenten discipline, we sing Alleluia to praise God for the tremendous mystery of his love. St. Augustine said, ‘We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song.” Each day of the triduum has its own color- white for Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday, red for Good Friday.
